Sleepy Hollow Football Club
General Information
Sleepy Hollow Football Club (SHFC) is an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit exempt organization, status 509(a)(2) public charity, that was founded in 2014 and is the advanced youth soccer program of the villages Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown. We actively compete with boys and girls U8 to high school age teams, in multiple divisions of the Westchester Youth Soccer League.
SHFC is the sister organization of Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow AYSO Region 220, which has been serving the community for over 40 years providing recreational soccer, while SHFC is aimed at advanced, highly competitive play, including travel throughout greater Westchester, NY. Our organization is primarily still run by parent and volunteer coaching staff who have taken on additional training, while also leveraging dedicated pro trainers help elevate individual and team skill levels to successfully compete in appropriate tiers of league play.
Our philosophy of player development is to provide a world-class soccer program that enriches lives of youth in our villages and this vision is consistent with the values of open tryouts, healthy competition, positive coaching, good sportsmanship and player development.
- Our teams will compete at appropriately competitive tiers of league play
- Our coaches promote a positive approach to player and team development
- We strive to promote love and respect for the beautiful game of soccer
Our registration is not limited to the villages of Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown, in fact participation in our program is open to all interested youth. However, as we are a competitive club, registration acceptance is limited by annual tryouts by age group.
Sleepy Hollow Football Club is a diverse organization with coaches, players and volunteers (and family members) of different races, ethnicity, religions, sexes, sexualities, genders, and physical and mental disabilities. For this reason, our organization is welcoming and inclusive to all, and we do not tolerate any behavior that is offensive or hurtful to any such groups.
SHFC believes it is our responsibility to ensure that neither we nor any of our players use any racist, ethnic, religious, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or ableist slurs, whether intended maliciously or in jest. Such slurs can be incredibly hurtful and damaging to anyone, but especially to the youth whom we are entrusted with leading, guiding and developing.
We hold our players, coaches and parents to a standard of behavior and ensure that no one, regardless of intention, is using slang, slurs or otherwise acting in a manner that could be perceived as offensive, hurtful or derogatory towards players or their friends and family who may be members of these groups.
Joining a Travel Team
Team formation for boys and girls teams, groups 8U and up, begin after competitive player evaluations are held in late April/May of each year. Please keep an eye on our home page for open tryouts in the spring.
Depending on the age group, there may be some additional team openings, pending individual evaluations past the tryout dates. However, all teams close by the third week of September, after which no players can be added to team rosters.
For more info, contact the club coordinator directly about this.
